Welcome to The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering’s (Luddy) open collaborative makerspace. The Protolab Design Research Cafe is the School’s first makerspace, and our newly remodeled location in Myles Brand Hall E120 is dedicated to being a readily accessible makerspace for the students, faculty, and staff of Luddy.

Additionally, in the spirit of being an open collaborative space we here at Protolab engage with partners within Luddy such as The Shoemaker Innovation Center, with other schools across IU’s campus such as SoAAD and SOE, and with partners such as Bloominglabs from the greater Bloomington community. In addition to being the site of Luddy’s design, prototyping, and fabrication courses Protolab is also a site to engage in a variety of projects, from workshops and community outreach projects to helping provide support for research. We encourage you to come visit the space and get the training to get started on your making projects.
